There are two types of trees: deciduous trees and coniferous trees.

Deciduous trees drop their leaves every year in the Fall. Examples of deciduous trees are oak trees, maples, and elms.

Coniferous trees produce seeds without fruits or nuts. Most coniferous trees have cones and needles and keep their needles in winter. Examples of coniferous trees are evergreen trees, spruces, firs, and pines.

Minnesota is home to 52 different indigenous trees, with 80% being deciduous.
